BRIXTON PU5 SNA SERVERThe Brixton SNA product family provides flexible solutions for companies that have significant investment in mainframe and AS/400 applications and devices, and need to access these in newer LAN and WAN environments.Product OverviewThe Brixton PU5 SNA Server software is an industry unique solution which provides 3270 terminals, communicating in their native SNA protocols, with complete access to open systems without any software on the mainframe. The Brixton PU5 SNA Server runs on an open system (UNIX) server and performs the necessary conversions between 3270 devices and applications running on an open system (UNIX) server. The PU5 SNA Server can also be used in conjunction with the Brixton PU2.1 SNA Server to allow 3270 devices to communicate to a host application over a TCP/IP backbone using the Brixton Passthru functionality.3270 devices can establish a cross domain session through a front end processor to what appears to be another host running the desired application. This is actually an open systems server running Brixton PU5 software. The connection is maintained by NCP, bypassing mainframe communications overhead. The existing SNA network remains architecturally unaltered, and neither 3270 devices nor applications require conversion of any kind.
